The curfew may be extended to 24 hours if violations continue.
 
Repeat offenders will be fined MVR 1,000 after the first warning.
 
This number includes 150 Maldivians and 33 foreigners

183 violations have been recorded on the 5th day of curfew.

This was announced by the spokesperson for the government's Covid-19 taskforce, Mohamed Mabrook Aziz during the National Emergency Operation Centre's (NEOC) daily press briefing on Monday night.

Police have stated that curfew violators will be fined MVR 1,000 after the first warning. So far, only one person has been fined.

During a previous press briefing, Mabrook has stated that the curfew may be extended to 24 hours if violations continue.

The curfew declared for an indefinite period of time began on April 2nd. No one is allowed to be outside from 5-8 pm every day except for permit holders.
