Board members will undergo wage cuts if cost-cutting measures are required, says the country's national airline Maldivian.

During a press conference held by the airline at the National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC) on Monday evening, Maldivian's Public Relations and Communications Manager Moosa Waseem divulged that the airline has also been economically impacted by the ongoing pandemic.

Nevertheless, there are no plans to let any employees go, said Moosa, adding that cost-cutting efforts are underway in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance. He went onto state that if drastic cost-cutting measures are required, then board members and heads of management have volunteered to take a 20% wage cut.

He further stated that many of the airline's employees are working from home and that some employees are only required to come in three days a week. Employees have also been given the opportunity to take their annual leave during this period as well if they wish to do so, said Moosa.
