The 14 day quarantine period does not include the day that the individual is placed under quarantine: Dr Murad

Exit screening procedures have been initiated for those who have completed the 14-day quarantine period, says Dr Moosa Murad.

During Thursday's press briefing at the National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC), Dr Moosa Murad explained that the 14 day quarantine period does not include the day that the individual is placed under quarantine. Thus, samples will be taken on the 15th day of quarantine.

Further, the individual will only be released after test results of samples return and a second check-up will be conducted prior to release, said Dr Murad.

The Maldives began placing all inbound passengers under a 14-day quarantine on March 21st. Hence, a number of individuals placed under quarantine since that date will be completing 14-days of quarantine in the upcoming week. There are currently 880 people under quarantine at various facilities designated by the government.
