Maldivian man positive for Covid-19 transferred to Velidhoo Quarantine Facility

The Maldivian national who tested positive for Covid-19 has been transferred to Velidhu Isolation Facility.

Deputy Minister at the Ministry of Tourism and the focal point for Holiday Island Resort Quarantine Facility, Assad Riza disclosed to RaajjeMV that the Maldivian national who tested positive for Covid-19 is no longer at Holiday Island Resort and has been transferred to Velidhoo Quarantine Facility. He went onto add that there is a total of 149 people currently at Holiday Island Resort.

As such, Policy Director at Ministry of Tourism and the focal point for Velidhoo Quarantine Facility, Ibrahim Farhad revealed that the 38-year old man arrived at the facility at 12:30 am last night and is in stable condition.

Further, he revealed that there are three confirmed cases of Covid-19 at the facility; two foreigners and the Maldivian national. There are a total of 20 people at the facility at present, said Farhad, which include 13 individuals who tested negative in both rounds of sample analysis, two individuals who tested negative in the first round and two individuals with pending results.

With the addition of the Maldivian national positive for Covid-19, the total number of confirmed cases in the country has risen to 16. Nine patients have since recovered.

Under the government's efforts to curb the spread of the disease, all arrivals into the Maldives are subject to a 14-day quarantine at a designated facility. Likewise, on-arrival visas have been suspended as of March 27th and the public holidays declared under the state of health emergency has been extended for an additional week.
