Covid-19: 70-yo patient in 'serious' condition
Doctor Moosa Murad stated that the man’s condition is worsening, "as doctors expected"
He was brought to Dharumavantha Hospital for further treatment after turning positive to the virus
Doctors are monitoring him closely

The condition of the 70-year-old being treated for the Novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) at Dharumavantha Hospital is serious, reveals authorities.

Dr. Moosa Murad revealed this during the government's press conference on Friday. He stated that the man’s condition is worsening, as doctors expected.

The individual tested positive from Sandies Bathala Maldives along with spouse, and both were transferred to Dharumavantha Hospital for further treatment.

Doctors are giving him oxygen as his oxygen levels are decreasing since he being admitted, said Dr. Murad, adding that this "is the only deterioration we have observed".

Doctors are monitoring him closely as he could deteriorate further, said the doctor, who added that it is “hard” to confirm his exact condition, due to the scale of the disease.

The 11th floor of Dharumavantha Hospital has been specially allocated to provide treatment for those who experience deterioration due to the fatal virus.

The unit has the capacity to provide treatment for up to 10 people at once, Murad stated at a press conference earlier.

Thus far, there have been nine confirmed cases of the virus in the Maldives, all foreigners and from resorts.
