Covid-19: individuals placed under isolation in Fehendhoo island, safari boat

Mabrook revealed that two expatriates are under monitoring following discovery of symptoms, in Olhuveli Beach Resort
Both the safari and Fehendhoo island are being monitored

Authorities have begun monitoring Fehendhoo island in Baa atoll as well as a safari boat, following possible cases of the Novel Coronavirus (Covid-19).

Sharing the latest details of the disease to the public on Friday, government's Covid-19 spokesperson, Mabrook Aziz revealed that individuals on the island have been placed under monitoring and a team of specialists are currently being dispatched to conduct contact screening and tests.

A tourist staying at a local guest house in Fehendhoo is to have development Covid-19-like symptoms following which the tourist has been placed under isolation.

Further, two guests on-board the safari are to have reportedly developed flu symptoms following which they have been placed under isolation inside the safari.

Mabrook added that four expatriates have been isolated in Six Senses after they returned to the country from their homeland. They are to have attended a public gathering where an infected person was also in attendance.

Although they are yet to develop symptoms, authorities are conducting tests as a precautionary measure.

While Maldives confirmed its ninth positive case on Friday from Anantara Dhigu Island Resort, 12 have been isolated on the island following contact tracing.

Further, Mabrook revealed that there are currently 496 in-house guests and 709 staffs in Kuredu Island Resort where the first two positive cases were confirmed. While restrictive measures were imposed on the resort, there were 699 guests and 728 workers on the island at the time.

As exit-screening is proceeding full-steam ahead, a total of 220 individuals have been evacuated from Kuredu from 11 – 13 March.

In addition, Mabrook revealed that two expatriates are under monitoring following discovery of symptoms, in Olhuveli Beach Resort.

As for test samples, 101 samples have been taken thus far, 92 out of which have turned negative and the results for 18 samples are yet to come through. One sample from Kuramathi Island Resort has tested negative and authorities are yet to receive the result of one more sample.

Further, the spokesperson stated that the number of guests who departed from Sandies Bathala reach 126 and 103 from Kuramathi Island Resort; both resorts were also on lockdown until Wednesday following positive cases.
