The government of Maldives refused entry to a total of 37 individuals after screening, thus far.
Speaking at the press conference on Thursday night, Coivd-19 spokesperson Mabrook Aziz revealed that the government has collected 91 samples thus far and conducted contact tracing for 243 individuals.
Highlighting that over 200,000 individuals have been screened at several entry points into the country thus far, Mabrook revealed that a total of 37 individuals were banned entry into the country and deported.
In addition, the government is working to evacuate the guests at Kuredu Island Resort, Sandies Bathala Island Resort and Kuramathi Maldives which are under monitoring, with the joint efforts from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
As such, the government has been able to send 107 tourists from Kuredu, 15 from Bathala and 127 individuals from Kuramathi back to their respective countries thus far.
Detailing the process, Mabrook stated that all tourists undergo the exit screening procedure before check in begins for their scheduled flights.
Officers of the Maldives Police Service (MPS) are also stationed at the Velana International Airport (VIA) to ensure the procedure is maintained.
