New health facilities have been launched at Dhihdhoo island of Haa Alif atoll, Eydhafushi island of Baa atoll and Kudahuvadhoo island of Dhaalu atoll.
All three health facilities were included in President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's electoral pledges. The facilities were inaugurated by Ministry of Health Abdulla Ameen.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Minister Ameen stated that the ministry has undertaken many efforts to identify and address issues within the country's healthcare facilities. As such, he noted that space constraints is the biggest challenge facing the health sector.
Highlighting that the incumbent administration had determined to design and erect modernized health facilities as a permanent solution to these challenges, the minister stated that the three new health facilities are also part of these plans.
All three hospitals were designed according to modern standards and has a total capacity of 55-beds. At the end of construction, the hospitals will also have a total of 19 consultation rooms, six private rooms, an ICU and NICU with three beds each, two operating theaters as well as eight wards with 12 beds.
Additionally, these facilities will be equipped with a laboratory as well as an X-ray and ultra-sound scan room. Moreover, the lobbies, waiting room and private rooms of each hospital were designed to ensure patients have a spacious and restful area.
