A total of 136 cases were lodged at the Human Rights Commission of the Maldives (HRCM) from October to December in 2019.
The commission publicized their statistics for the period between October and December 2019 via Twitter on Sunday morning.
Statistics highlight that the commission had initiated investigations into 29 cases during the period as well.
Further, it has been revealed that HRCM received the most cases related to jail health, recorded at 20. Second comes 18 cases related to the Maldives Police Service (MPS) and 17 cases regarding the country's judiciary.
The commission went on to reveal that they received three cases regarding housing, one regarding employment, 13 cases connected to health and five social cases were also lodged at the commission.
In addition, the commission received 10 cases regarding children, three regarding the elderly, five family cases and six cases linked to individuals with special needs.
Further, the commission received 14 cases of torture and 14 connected to prisoners.
Statistics go onto reveal that the commission took 180 statements during the period and conducted 39 visits in connection to several cases.
HRCM also concluded investigations into 88 cases during the time period.
