Club Eagles is hopeful of ending the ongoing Dhiraagu Dhivehi Premier League while remaining second on the points table, after beating Da Grande during Wednesday’s match.
Eagles team took the match, played at Galolhu Stadium with a score of 3 – 0.
The winning team showed an excellent attacking game into the beginning of the match, having scored its leading goal eight minutes in.
After the first goal by Toshiki Okomoto, Eagles was able to secure its chances at winning by scoring a second goal at the 22nd minute.
Foreign player Okomoto directed several attacks to Grande players however his attempt to score went down the drains at the 27th minute after the ball hit the goal post.
Further, Ahmed Rizwan also got a golden opportunity to score at the 41st minute, however, luck was not on his side.
The first half of the match ended with a score of 2 – 0.
Rizwan, who scored the winning team’s second goal, scored its last goal at the 90th minute of the match.
Imran Nasheed was dubbed the Man of the Match.
Ismail Mahfooz, Grande’s coach expressed his dissatisfaction with his team’s performance after the match ended, and Eagles’ coach Mohamed Shiyaz linked the team’s win to players having taken the lead earlier into the match.
