A report by the Ministry of Education has revealed that 55 schools in the country fail to meet the standards set by the ministry.
While speaking on RaajjeTV's "FalaSuruhee" program, State Minister of the Ministry of Education, Aishath Athiyaa Naseer stated that there are 55 schools in the country that are below the standards set by the education ministry. However, she did not disclose any further details of these schools.
Nevertheless, Athiyaa stated that the root causes of the issue have been identified after additional surveys of these schools.
She further claimed that the ministry will undertake efforts to bring these schools up to the standards detailed in the ministry's action plan while asserting that there will be no under-performing school within four years.
Athiya went onto deny accusations of discrimination by the ministry between schools in Male' City and school in the atolls, stating that the ministry does not have any such biases.
In response to public criticism, alleging that residents in the atolls migrate to Male' City for better quality education due to the sub-par education available in the atolls, Aathiya highlighted that people migrate to Male' city for reasons other than education as well, including job opportunities and healthcare services.
