The ninth Dhivehi Film Awards was held on Friday, with film “Vishka” emerging as the big winner.
The Yara Production’s 2017 film was awarded the “best film,” as well as six other awards.
“Vishka” won best film after competing against four other releases; “Ill Noise”, “Hahdhu”, “Dhevanasoora” and “Vakin Loabin.”
Aishath Rishmy, who was seen in the lead role in “Vishka”, won best actress while the film also won best singer (female), art director, costume design, sound design and cinematography.
Rishmy also won best actress at the SAARC Film Festival Awards 2017, for the movie.
Yoosuf Shafeeu won best actor for “Dhevanasoora”, as well as best director. The film also won best editing and best screenplay.
Mohamed “Dhara” Rasheed was honoured with the lifetime achievement award at Friday’s ceremony, which was presented by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
This year, 12 feature films and one short film were nominated for the awards, presented to productions released from 2017-2018.
