The “humblest” behavior was taught to us through Sunnah, says President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih
In his felicitations to the people on the occasion of Mawlid al-Nabi, the president stated that Islam guides the people to respect one another, to forgive and to avoid the practice of vengeance.
Prophet Muhammad has depicted the highest standard known to mankind through complete honesty, loyalty and reliability and we must learn from his guidance, he added.
As such, stressing on the importance of adhering to the Islamic virtues observed through the teachings of Prophet Muhammad, Solih advised the people to instill faith into their hearts and greet one another with love and affection.
Adding that spreading the virtues of Islam must be highly prioritized, the president highlighted that the day is celebrated with “great purpose”.
The most important lesson to learn from Mawlid al-Nabi is to follow in the footsteps of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) by adhering to Sunnah, said Solih.
He went on to urge the public to incorporate teachings of Islam into all of the aspects of life.
The president’s felicitations were extended to all the Muslims celebrating the day across the globe as well as leaders of Islamic countries.
This year, Mawlid al-Nabi fell on Saturday and is a day celebrated as the birthday of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), commemorated in the third month of Islamic Calendar, Rabi-ul-Awwal.
The President's Office declared Sunday a holiday, as it falls between two public holidays, Mawlid al-Nabi and Republic Day.
