A delegation of the World Bank’s Executive Directors has discussed development opportunities with the Maldivian government.
While the delegations concluded its three-day trip to Maldives on Friday, they experienced the progress and results of projects in the archipelago nation that the World Bank had supported.
The delegation also visited capital city Malé’s suburban extension Hulhumalé and southernmost Addu City where they observed the activities form the Climate Change Adaptation Project, a trust fund aiming to reduce the city’s vulnerability to climate change.
Said project was managed by the World Bank with support from the European Union and the Australian Government.
The delegation visited ongoing housing projects in the suburbs as well.
Priority development opportunities and constraints were discussed and they touched on the alignment of the World Bank Group Strategy with country priorities.
They delegation of Executive Directors met with President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, Speaker of Parliament, Former President Mohamed Nasheed, Finance Minister Ibrahim Ameer, Addu city Mayor Abdulla Sodiq as well as Addu City Council officials.
Further interactive discussions were also held with the Women’s Development Council of Addu and Parley Maldives.
