Tourism Minister Ali Waheed has announced that ferry services will be arranged for resort employees to travel back home to their island before May, next year onwards.

While speaking at a press conference before departing for the World Travel Market (WTM), the minister disclosed that arrangements will be made for resort employees completing their shift duty to travel back to their island and that MATI has been invited to discuss making the arrangements.

He further disclosed that he hopes to bring these arrangements to fruition by early next year and that ferry services will be mandatory in resorts within a certain distance from inhabited islands to allow employees to join their families at the end of the workday.

The minister went on to state that this is the best improvement provided by the current administration for the tourism sector.

The establishment of ferry services for resort employees to travel back home to their island is one of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's presidential pledges.
