Five countries to compete in next month's National Tennis Championship

The National Tennis Championship 2019 is to be held in November.

With Bank of Maldives as a partner, the tennis competition is set to be held from 15-23 November. The winner will receive a grand prize of USD 25,000.

Athletes from five countries are to compete in the 50th National Tennis Championship; Maldives, Sri Lanka, India, Nepal and Cambodia.

The Maldives Tennis Association stressed that this will be the biggest tennis tournament held in the Maldives thus far.

The seven categories in the championship are; under seven, eight, 12, 14 and 45, as well as Junior Open, Men’s Open and Women’s Open. In addition, there will be an under 10 category, which will be held under a knockout format.

While Wednesday is the last day to apply, Tennis Association’s secretary general Yoosuf Riza said that they hope to see at least 150 players; with at least 20-25 players in each category.

This will the first international tennis tournament held in Maldives.
