In light of the recurring rain showers and thunderstorms across the entirety of Maldives since the monsoon season began, the country’s meteorological department has predicted adverse weather conditions to prevail over most regions for the next few days.
Maldives Meteorological Services revealed that turbulent weather may be expected over central and northern atolls for the next 24 hours.
Gusts of wind have been estimated at 35 miles per hour varying between 7 – 17 miles per hour from southeast to southerly.
Sea travelers have been advised to take precautionary measures as choppy seas are expected.
Unpredictable showers have been pouring over capital city Malé and several outlying atolls for the most of October, with rain water causing floods in less developed regions. Authorities have begun work to develop the roads to enhance the storm water drainage systems across the city as the city is prone to heavy flooding even with the slightest amount of rain, sometimes with calf-deep flooding and water entering homes as almost all residences in Malé are level with the roads.
