The newly-appointed members of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) have been sworn in on Monday.

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih appointed four new members following the conclusion of the term of previous members.

Appointed are Fathimath Anoola of Galolhu Vadinolhuge, Mariyam Shiuna native to Addu City Hithadhoo, Aishath Abdulla native to Hinnavaru in Lhaviyani atoll, and Ali Ashraf, registered in capital city Malé.

All four took their oath of membership, administered by the Supreme Court Judge Adam Mohamed Abdulla, at a ceremony held at the President’s Office on Monday afternoon.

Afterwards, Solih presented letters of appointment to the four members.

While Anoola has a degree in Shariah and Law at the Maldives College of Higher Education, she previously served in the Presidential Commission on Corruption and Asset Recovery.

Currently studying for her PhD in International Development, Shiuna previously served as Executive Director of Transparency Maldives.

Aishath, who has a degree in Accounting and Finance from the Maldives National University, held the post of Audit Executive at the Ministry of Finance.

Further, member Ashraf is currently enrolled in the Masters of Business Administration program at the University of Western England and held several managerial-level position at Villa College prior to his appointment to the ACC board.

The previous term ended on Sunday and all members completed one term, except for President Muavviz Rasheed, who completed two terms since being appointed in September 2009.

Hassan Luthufee, the previous President resigned as ACC President after allegations of corruption were pinned on him, in July.
