Home Ministry signs with islands to provide financial aid for development projects

Under the same program, the ministry is set to provide financial aid for development projects in 17 different islands

The Ministry of Home Affairs has on Monday signed agreements with three councils to provide financial assistance in development projects in all three islands.

The ministry via twitter revealed that they had signed agreements with the councils of Olhuvelifushi in Lhaviyani, Feridhoo in Alif Alif and Magoodhoo in Faafu atoll.

State Minister Ali Nazeer signed the agreements on behalf of the ministry while Council Vice President Abdul Azeez Mohamed signed on behalf of Olhuvelifushi council, Council Vice President Abdul Majeed Moosa signed on behalf of Feridhoo council and Council President Abdulla Waheed signed on behalf of Magoodhoo island.

Home Ministry is to provide funds for the development of an outer wall around the graveyard in Olhuvelifushi, totaling MVR 235,643. The island’s council is to spend MVR 77,209 for the project.

Further, the ministry is to fund MVR 300,000 for the development of a children’s park in Feridhoo island while the island council is set to spend MVR 400,000 for it.

The third agreement is with Magoodhoo to fund MVR 300,000 for the installation of street lamps on the island. The island council is to spend MVR 382,000 for the project.

Under the same program, the ministry is set to provide financial aid for development projects in 17 different islands.

Children’s parks are to be developed in six islands, street lamps are to be planted in six islands and the construction of outer walls in graveyards for four islands.

The islands to provide financial aid were chosen after a public announcement for proposals which the ministry fanned through.
