One of Maldives’ most decorated football coaches, Mohamed ‘Nizambe’ Nizam has been appointed as the head coach of the junior national football team.
Ibrahim Haleem was dismissed as the team’s coach, following their poor performance in the UEFA Assist International Tournament held in Maldives’ southernmost Addu City.
The team came last, having scored only one goal in the entire tournament.
Nizambe is a successful coach, and through his guidance TC Sports Club won the Dhivehi Premier Leagu last year. In addition, he assisted the team win the Sheikh Kamal International Cup in Bangladesh.
It was under his instruction that TC Sports Club moved to the first division, before winning the Dhivehi Premier League three consecutive years.
Nizambe was also chosen at the best football coach, the past two years.
