Mueena Mohamed, Maldives’ top female table tennis player, has said she wishes to retire after winning a medal for Maldives.

Speaking to RaajjeMV, Mueena said she hopes to win a medal in the Indian Ocean Island Games (IOIG) and retire.

Mueena said she is satisfied with the contribution she has made to the country’s table tennis scene and that she wants to focus on her job and give young players the opportunity to compete.

She currently works as a fitness coach for the national women’s football team and the youth teams.

She said that she will not work as a table tennis coach but will still contribute to the sport and that she wants to focus on sports fitness coaching, which she said is important in every sport.

Mueena won the silver medal in the IOIG held in 2011 and the Association Championship’s singles trophy in 1995 and is the 16-time singles champion, the 12-time double champion, and the 7-time mix double champion in the Association Championship.

She also held the title of national table tennis champion for 13 consecutive years since 2003.
