Auditor General Hassan Ziyath has revealed that they are yet to receive the information and details of some government joint-venture companies.
Responding to questions raised by members of the parliament’s State-Owned Enterprises Committee on Thursday, Auditor General Ziyath stated that details of joint-venture companies that are being newly formed must be forwarded to the Auditor General.
But since some have not been following this policy, the Registrar and the Ministry of Finance have been urged to forward the required details of the joint venture companies to the Auditor General henceforth.
Ziyath further gave his assurance that while companies have been asked to follow this procedure, there isn’t a single company that they have not included during their audits.
While the office is seeking information of newly established joint-venture companies, Ziyath revealed that once they receive the corresponding agreements regarding them, they will look into the matter.
Highlighting that the audit office may not be able to provide a solution or resolve every single issue facing companies, Ziyath said that audits are usually based on information provided by the company and if anything goes wrong or is done illegally within the company, it will be clear from their financial statements. In this regard, he stated that the company’s board of directors must also take some responsibility into such issues.
