The previous government had entranced the youth community in fun and games “for their advantage”, said Vice President Faisal Naseem.
The VP made this assertion during the inaugural ceremony of “Hunaruveni 2019” at Dharubaaruge on Sunday.
Stressing that the former administration had spellbound the youth community in fun and games and left them to it, Naseem highlighted that this is not how a leader who wishes them well must act.
Naseem went on to add that the current government of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih will work to “build” the youth community for the greater good. As such, he reiterated the government’s commitment to nurture artistic innovation and to develop artisans across the entire nation.
Expressing his confidence that the artisans the government build will have the capacity to provide a significant contribution to the country’s development, Naseem went on to urge parents and guardians to support their children to learn and explore different vocations.
Further, he stressed on the importance of craftsmanship, saying that every skill and occupation is equally imperative to achieve national progress.
Naseem stated that developing youth is necessary for the development of the nation. This development must begin from childhood education because a well-rounded curriculum involves more than scoring high in exams, he said.
