Charity Shield: FAM delays match between Foakaidhoo and TC

Maziya won the last Charity Shield, held in 2017

The second leg is scheduled to begin at 9pm on Tuesday

The first leg ended with a draw of 1 - 1

Football Association of Maldives (FAM) has delayed the second leg of the Charity Shield, where Foakaidhoo team and TC Sports Club will be facing off.

Although the match was initially scheduled for Monday, the second leg has since been delayed to Tuesday.

FAM revealed that the delay follows difficulties on Foakaidhoo team’s half to travel due to the squally weather.

The first leg of the Charity Shield saw a draw between Foakaidhoo team and TC Sports Club 1 – 1.

This compels Foakaidhoo team to win the second leg by at least one more goal than TC in order to win against TC who takes the lead with one away goal.

The second leg is scheduled to begin at 9pm on Tuesday.

This year’s Charity Shield is being played under the home and away policy unlike other years.

The last time a first division match was played in the atolls was in 2015. Back then, the President’s Cup was played in Kulhudhuffushi, Haa Dhaal and Seenu atoll due to damages to the turf of Galolhu Stadium.

FAM had not held the Charity Shield last year. As such, Maziya Sports and Recreation had won the Charity Shield of 2017 against Valencia with a score of 1 – 0.
