Maziya Sports and Recreation Club has won the first friendly match against Saudi Arabia’s Jeddah Club.
The Maldivian football club won the match against the Saudi team from the second division with a score of 2-1.
Both goals were scored by Ibrahim Waheed.
The club is to play one more friendly before returning to Maldives.
While the club had departed to Saudi Arabia on 30 May, the team will return on 13 June. The trip is sponsored by the Football Association of Maldives (FAM).
19 players and 11 officials of the team is taking part in the trip.
The trip was arranged by the FAM after Maziya lost the spot in this year’s AFC Cup. Alongside Maziya, FAM also arranged an international trip for TC Sports club who had also lost the spot in this year’s AFC Cup.
TC’s team is set to depart in July.
Maziya also completed trainings in Mahibadhoo island, Alif Dhaal quite recently.
Recently, Maziya introduced new players to the team to strengthen its game for the upcoming football season. Some of the new players include TC’s Abdulla Haneef, Ibrahim Waheed Hassan, Ibrahim Mahudhee, New Radiant’s Ahmed Abdulla and Hamza Mohamed in addition to Afghanistan’s national goal keeper Azizi.
