Tornado touches down, rips roof off house in Magoodhoo

A tornado touched down in Magoodhoo island, ripping off the roof in one of its households.

The tornado touched down in the island on Monday evening.

RaajjeMV understands that two brothers had been residing in the house.

While the roof tore off, the house had been flooded due to the rain and some of its properties were also damaged.

President of the island council Mohamed Zaeem revealed that the two residents of the house have been moved to temporary locations for shelter.

He further said that they will hold discussions with the Disaster Management Authority to give them permanent shelter.

While no injuries were reported following the storm, RaajjeMV understands that one of the residents of the house had been asleep at the time its roof was torn off.
