President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has met with Fathimath Dheema Ali, the Silver medalist of the ‘Asian Hopes Challenge' Table Tennis Tournament.
The meeting was held at the President’s Office on Sunday, where the president congratulated the 11-year-old on her achievement.
He also encouraged her “to pursue her interests in sports and education.”
Dheema won the runners-up in the 'Asian Hopes Challenge' held in Bangkok, Thailand, earlier this month.
This is the first time a Maldivian athlete has received such an achievement at a table tennis competition in the region.
In addition, Dheema has also secured a gold medal in Regional Hopes Challenge (South Asia) 2018 in Sonepat, Haryana, India, after winning all the matches.
