Clubs will receive funds latest by Monday, says Football Association of Maldives (FAM).
It’s general secretary, Hussain Javaaz confirmed this to RaajjeMV on Wednesday.
The previous administration had, since 2017, been giving funds to football clubs through companies. As such, all clubs that compete in the first division were given MVR two million each, while those that qualify for the Dhivehi Premier League were given an additional MVR one million.
However, FAM decided to provide funds to the clubs after claiming that it is unsure whether the incumbent administration will do the same.
While FAM has allocated MVR 30 million for this in its annual budget, it says that all clubs in the first division will receive MVR three million each.
This year’s football season will commence in June, clubs have been requesting for funds to prepare.
