Saying 'no' to corruption is a great form of courage: President
Urged graduates to think about the current situation of the country and explore what they can do for the nation

The greatest are those who are courageous enough to say no to corruption, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has said.

The President made this statement at the ceremony held to mark the Graduation Day of Maldives National University on Thursday.

Stating that saying “no” to corruption is the best quality one can possess, President Solih stated that one’s personality is built on the way the person uses the knowledge he/she has acquired.

Addressing the graduates, President Solih urged them to push themselves with their newly acquired knowledge to bring out their best character.

Solih stated that this character should be based on kindness, respect, empathy, helpfulness, righteousness, fairness, and against corruption and commotion.

Emphasizing on the tireless work of the university to illuminate the Maldives education system, President Solih stated that the nation has high hopes for MNU to open a campus in every atoll with it campuses already stationed in the northern and southern parts of the country.

Solih also shed light on the important role MNU plays in fulfilling the government’s policy in empowering women. He went on to urge women to progress in different aspects just like they are progressing in achieving higher education.

While 78.2% of the graduates from MNU are women, Solih said that Maldives needs the involvement of more women in politics and leadership positions.

Solih also urged the graduates to think about the current situation of the country as well as to explore what they can do for the nation using their knowledge and to use the education they have acquired to build the nation.
