Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has been contracted with two development projects in Alif Alif and Baa atolls.
At a ceremony held at Ministry of Planning and Infrastructure on Monday, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry Zeeniya Ahmed Hameed signed on behalf of the government and MTCC COO Shahid Hussain Moosa signed the two contracts on behalf of the company.
Under one agreement, MTCC is tasked with constructing the main roads in Eydhafushi island of Baa atoll with the installation of a storm water management system, supply and installation of 172 LED street lights along with speed breakers.
The second agreement contracts MTCC to construct the harbor of Himendhoo island in Alif Alif atoll. MTCC is to construct the 700 by 300-foot harbor to consist dredging and excavation along with the installation of a 92-meter breakwater, 110-meter revetment, a 372-meter quay wall, ramp, concrete bridge and interlocking pavements.
MTCC via a statement on Monday revealed that the Eydhafushi project is estimated to cost over MVR 19 million (approximately MVR 19, 184, 857.96) and the Himendhoo project is estimated to cost over MVR 43 million (approximately MVR 43, 687, 336.57).
On the 27th of March, MTCC was contracted with three development projects in Kanduhulhudhoo island of Gaaf Alif atoll, Hulhumeedhoo island of Seenu atoll and Fuvahmulah City respectively.
As such, MTCC is to construct Fuvahmulah ring road, “Bahaahudheen Magu” in Hulhumeedhoo and a quay wall in Kanduhulhudhoo. While the projects in Hulhumeedhoo and Fuvahmulah are estimated to cost over MVR 32 million, the development project in Kanduhulhudhoo is estimated to cost over MVR 35 million.
