Yameen was the most tyrannical ruler in Maldives history: President Solih
Urged the island community to refrain from giving majority to the opposition
"The elections will proceed as planned by the EC"

Former President Abdulla Yameen is the most tyrannical ruler in the history of Maldives, states President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.

The President made this assertion while speaking at a campaign event to promote main ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP)’s candidate Abdul Ghafoor Moosa in Hanimaadhoo island on Sunday.

President Solih went on to claim that the former President is perceptibly plotting for the downfall of the nation once again and urged the island community to not give the opposition that opportunity.

Stressing that President Yameen’s government had received majority in Parliament during his tenure, President Solih highlighted that they had acted against the legal ambit and messed with the entire system.

Back then, the nation had gone through bitterness that it has never had to endure before, said President Solih.

The President claimed that Yameen is trying to bring back those days once more.

As such, there have been recent reports that the opposition is trying to delay the Parliamentary Elections scheduled to take place within less than a week.

However, President Solih stated that they must not be given the opportunity this time and that the elections will proceed as initially planned by the Elections Commission.

Shedding light on the success of his administration in completing 83 percent of the government’s first-100-day action plan within 90 days, President Solih stated that his government is working to implement 28 out of the pledges currently.

While this is the President’s first tour across Thiladhunmathi atoll which began from Hanimaadhoo on Sunday, he is accompanied by former President and coalition leader Mohamed Nasheed.
