The current government of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has yet to do anything substantial since assuming office, former President Abdulla Yameen has said.
The former President stated that while it has been nearly five months into the new administration, the incumbent 'has not done anything productive till date.'
He went on to criticize the government, stating that it is forming different inquiry commissions to cover up its powerlessness.
Emphasizing on the development of Maldives, the ex-President highlighted that the development desired by the people was brought within the past five years of his administration.
Yameen shed light on the priority his government gave towards implementing development, down to the “simplest” of citizen.
“I know this might spark a fire. But this is the truth. Throwing me into prison, blocking out all my sources of spending, this is not how you campaign. This is not democracy” said Yameen.
Stating that there are some trying to spoil the nation, Yameen stressed that the reason for the downfall of the nation is because some political leaders have taken actions without thinking of the consequences for the citizens.
This comes at a time the President’s Office has revealed that it has fulfilled 83 percent of President Solih’s pledges to the people within 90 days of the government’s 100-day action plan.
There has also been observed a reasonably perceptible change in the livelihoods of the citizens since the pledges have been fulfilled for the betterment of the people.
