Deadline to submit complaints from unfairly sacked employees, extended

Reinstating wrongfully sakced employees is included in President Solih’s first 100-day pledges

The new deadline for form submissions is 2pm of 21st January

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has on Thursday extended the duration for form submissions for the employees who were unfairly terminated by the government of his predecessor Abdulla Yameen for political reasons.

The new deadline for form submissions is 2pm of 21st January.

While reinstating unfairly sacked employees at state institutions and companies is included in President Solih’s first 100-day pledges, the President’s Office began accepting forms from employees who were unfairly sacked in the previous government, on the 03rd of December.

The opportunity was opened for every individual who was unfairly fired, wronged, or who had unwarranted measures taken against them during Yameen’s five-year term, to submit their complaints to the President’s Office initially within 30 days. However, the deadline was extended due to various requests from public asking for an extension.

Complaint forms will be available for download through their official website or at the reception of the President’s Office.

While the deadline has been extended, the President’s Office on Thursday morning announced that they are looking into 451 such cases submitted thus far.

The matter is being looked into by a committee established to look into such matters.

President Solih’s 100-day agenda states that all employees who have been unfairly dismissed will be reinstated and those who were transferred to other positions will be given their original positions.
