While surfing and bodyboarding are some of the most famous water sports among youth in the Maldives, it is also popular among tourists, with the arrival count just to enjoy the waves, growing year by year.
It is notable that the current administration had pledged to boost the budget for the Bodyboarding Association. As such, while the association had been receiving a budget of just about MVR 100,000, the new administration of President Solih had decided to increase the budget for sports associations to MVR 500,000, effective from the commencing year.
It is deemed by youth in sports that this boost in the budget will bring a desirable change and ease to their associations.
