The Supreme Court of the Maldives has scheduled the verdict hearing in the case filed by President Abdulla Yameen, to annul September's presidential election, for 1pm on Sunday,

The 'constitutional' case was filed by the outgoing president on October 10 after refusing to accepte defeat to Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, despite havin initially conceded defeat the day after the election. His legal teams claims that the case was filed due to 'thousands of complaints'.

The first hearing in the case was held on October 14, with back-to-back hearings held till Tuesday. At the last hearing. the bench of judges decided not to hear the secret witnesses submitted by Yameen's legal team, and had instead heard the closing statements from all sides.

Yameen lost his bid for reelection after receiving just 96,052 votes while his opponent, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih received 134,705 votes.
