He made the pledge via twitter on Saturday; October 20 is marked as International Home-Based Workers Day.
Noting that home-based workers ‘play an important role in our community’, Solih emphasized that his administration ‘will take concrete measures to increase support to home-based workers’.

The Kathmandu Declaration adopted in October 2000, recommends all South Asian countries to formulate national policies and plans of action for home-based workers, as well as that the South Asian Region for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) address the issues of home-based workers and take measures to enable them to deal with the risks and opportunities of globalization.
Since then, SAARC countries have initiated an innovative project for strengthening the livelihoods of poor home-based workers in 2017, called SAARC Business Association of Home-Based Workers or SABAH.
