The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has revealed that preparations for President-elect Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s oath-taking ceremony are underway.
The ministry has been tasked with sending invitations to leaders and senior members of foreign countries and prominent members of the international community. They will also be in charge of organizing accommodation and travel for the invitees.
Speaking to RaajjeMV, Foreign Secretary Ahmed Sareer stated that all the relevant work for the invitation process is currently underway the way President-elect Solih requires it to be done. Highlighting that the ministry is proceeding alongside President-elect’s committee and state institutions, Sareer stated that the opposition committee has the full cooperation of the ministry in the entire procedure.
Although Sareer repeatedly stated that the procedures are underway, he did not reveal a date on which delivery of the invitations is to commence.
Credible sources have informed RaajjeMV that the ministry is sending out invitations, to attend the oath-taking ceremony on the 11th of November, the way the President-elect has instructed to do.
Solih’s team has confirmed their decision to hold the oath-taking will be held on the 11th of November.
This comes at a time the Deputy Parliament Speaker, ‘Reeko’ Moosa Manik has also asserted that there is no reason the President-elect cannot be sworn in on the 11th of November, having revealed that the Parliament is working to hold the oath-taking ceremony at Galolhu National Stadium as Solih wishes.
Deputy Speaker Manik had revealed to the opposition delegation that preparations for the oath-taking ceremony had commenced on the 24th of September and are proceeding full steam ahead with the work a 27-member committee, comprised especially for the procedure.
