The Maldives Police Service (MPS) has arrested an individual that attempted to smuggle narcotics onto Naifaru island of Lhaviyani atoll.
The 22-year-old was arrested in an operation carried out on 28th September, on information gathered by the MPS’ intelligence department.
The suspect was apprehended with two rubber packets of what officers believe to be illicit narcotics while on a vessel that entered the island.
The police are investigating the matter and authorities have remanded the suspect for 10 days.
