Elections Commission receives 18 complaints on first day
 
EC will be accepting complaints till 29th August
 
Registered were 78،964 out of the 95،639 individuals who applied to re-register
 
The complaints came from capital city Male'

Elections Commission has revealed that they received 18 complaints regarding re-registration on the first day after they began accepting them.

EC will be accepting complaints from 8:30am to 6:00pm until Thursday.

The commission has stated that 78،964 of the 95،639 applicants have been registered.

EC also stated that complaints in outlying atolls may be submitted to the island councils, the district offices in Addu and Fuvahmulah Cities, and to the Election Center.

Maldivians living abroad may submit their complaints to the Maldives Consulate and Embassies in the countries on week days from 09:30 a.m. to 04:00 p.m.

Elections Commission chief Ahmed Shareef has said that the commission plans to place a total of 472 ballot boxes for the September election. 122 ballot boxes will be placed in capital city Male', 55 of the boxes are for Male’ residents, and 67 are for atoll residents in Male’.

3,506 monitors and 2,624 observers will be present at polling stations. EC has also hired 3,895 officials to be active in the election.
