Maldives Customs Service statistics show that they have received MVR 282 million from import duties and fees in July.
This is an increase when compared to the MVR 254 received in the same month in 2017.
Statistics show that that Customs' income increased by 11% in July compared to the same month in 2017.
Exports in July has increased by 30% compared to the same month in 2017.
In July 2017, Maldives imported MVR 2.96 billion of goods. In July this year, imports reached MVR 4.1 billion of goods 19% were from goods imported from UAE, 18% from China, and 14% from Singapore.
In July 2017, MVR 203 million worth of goods were exported, which is a decrease compared the MVR 263 million exported in the same month last year. In July 2017, 26% of the exports were to Thailand, 18% to the UK, 16% to Germany, and 9% to the US. Maldives mostly export fish products.
The Cost, Insurance and Freight (CIF) costs in July have increased by 38% compared to the same month last year.
