Shareefa Moosa, the widow of locally prominent historian Abdul Hakeem Hussain, has passed away at the age of 88.
Shareefa, who had been ill for some time, passed away at her home on Sunday night. Shareefa is survived by five of her children – three sons and two daughters – one of whom is prominent businessman Ahmed ‘Artte’ Arif.
Abdul Hakeem Hussain made significant contributions to the modern understanding of Maldivian culture, etiquette, and customs and his scribes were published frequently in the Faiythoora, a local magazine issued by the Maldivian Centre for Linguistic and Historical Research.
