More votes mean this government will be defeated: MDP legal director

Prominent attorney Hisaan Hussain has urged more people to vote in September’s presidential election, saying that more votes mean that the current government will be defeated.
Hisaan, also the legal director of main opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), said this at the ceremony held by the opposition coalition in Thulhaadhoo on Saturday night.
Hisaan vowed that the opposition parties will give the nation back to its people and free them from tyranny.
She also said that the opposition takes priority in bringing about a free state.
“A state has the characteristics of being a state if institutions work independently. We will bring about a government that will give that opportunity.”
She added that the opposition will establish a safe environment for judges and employees to work without fear of losing their jobs.
