Several offers that Adhaalath Party leader Sheikh Imran Abdulla received from representatives claiming to be from President Abdulla Yameen will ‘shock and frighten’ the public, says Ali Nazeer.
Nazeer, the chair of the party’s media committee, said this through a post on his Twitter account on Thursday.
Nazeer's tweet translates to, ‘if the Maldivian people were told of all the offers that Sheikh Imran received from representatives claiming to be from Yameen and carrying his word, including the nature of these offers and their magnitude, it would utterly frighten them’.
The party official’s tweet comes when Galolhu-south constituency lawmaker Ahmed Mahloof had already alleged that President Yameen attempted to cut a deal with the opposition leader, who is serving a long jail term on terrorism charges.
In Mahloof’s tweet, the lawmaker said that Sheikh Imran had refused to accept said deal and responded to them by stating that he would rather be in jail than ‘make a deal with President Yameen’.
