The government has inaugurated the tarring work of the road development project in L. Fonadhoo.

Housing Minister Dr. Mohamed Muizzu inaugurated the project at a ceremony in the island on Friday.

A total of 10 roads consisting of 3.3 kilometers will be tarred as part of the road development project. The roads will also have anti-flooding mechanisms and cable junctions.

MTCC was awarded the project on 13 September 2015 to be completed within 420 days, but the company has failed to finish the project within the deadline.

MVR 45.6 million from the state budget has been allocated for the project.
