Maldives has voted in favour of North America’s bid to host the World Cup 2026 in FIFA’s vote on Wednesday.
The Football Association of Maldives’s (FAM) president Bassaam Adheel Jaleel had voted at FIFA’s 68th congress held in Moscow, Russia. FAM secretary-general Hussein Jawaz had been at the congress.
134 of 200 member nations that participated in the vote had favoured North America’s bid to hose the event, which it called the ‘United 2026’ beating bids from Mexico and Canada.
