The Coast Guard’s Major Abdul Muhsin Mohamed has been dismissed from the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF).

RaajjeMV has received a copy of a letter confirming his dismissal.

The letter, sent on May 30, consisted of a form that needed to be filled out by military personnel that are to be dismissed. The letter was signed by Leftenant Colonel Ahmed Thohir and addressed to Brigadier Ali Zuhair. It states that the form be filled by Major Muhsin (SN:26900), who is to be dismissed, and sent to the Intergrated Headquarters before May 31, 12am, as requested by the Chief of Defence Force.

The letter confirming Major Muhsin's dismissal

While the letter does not state a reason for Major Muhsin’s dismissal, he was rumored on social media to have played a lead role in the arrest of Supreme Court Chief Justice Abdulla Saeed and Justice Ali Hameed on February 6.

Officers had torn off the roof of the Supreme Court building and arrested the Justices inside for releasing court order on February 1 to release nine high-profile political prisoners and 12 opposition MPs.

RaajjeMV has been unable to get a word from Major Muhsin or MNDF.
