Former Managing Director of state utilities company Fenaka Corporation Mohamed Nimal has been appointed to a senior position at the Embassy of Maldives in Sri Lanka.
According to sources, Nimal has been appointed as Minister Counselor at the embassy.
Although Nimal has been appointed to a senior position at the Embassy of Maldives in Sri Lanka, the President's office has not disclosed any information on the matter yet.
Nimal first served as Managing Director at Fenaka Corporation in incumbent President Abdulla Yameen's administration. However, he was sacked from the post following his alleged involvement in transactions made with a local company against the Finance Ministry's procedure to exchange large sums of local currency for US dollars.
After that Nimal had served in government positions such as Deputy Minister at the Ministry of Tourism as well as Managing Director at Maldives Road Development Corporation (MRDC).
According to sources, Nimal had resigned to be more actively involved in President Yameen's campaign in 2017.
