IGMH makes purchases worth MVR 10.6 million

IGMH had made purchases worth MVR 10.6 million without having gotten approval from the tender evaluation board

It has been revealed that state-operated Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) had made purchases worth MVR 10.6 million, against financial regulations.

According to the Health Ministry's compliance audit report for 2015, the ministry noted 17 things they had noticed. As such, they had noted that IGMH had made purchases worth MVR 10.6 million without having gotten approval from the tender evaluation board.

The audit office had also stated that Hulhumale' Hospital, Hithadhoo Regional Hospital as well as IGMH had acquired services and products against the regulations.

According to the audit office, if the purchase exceeds MVR 25,000, they can only be made after looking into analysis and that if the project requires over MVR 25,000, it can only be commenced after thorough evaluation. 

However, the audit report states that a total of MVR 1.4 million had been spent.
