Appeal hearing in Chief Justice's obstruction case scheduled for Thursday
The hearing is to be held at 10:15 am on Thursday
Chief Justice Saeed is being charged with obstruction for ordering employees to shutdown the Government E-Letter Management System (GEMS)
Saeed is serving a prison sentence of four months and 24 days as well as an additional sentence of one year, two months and 12 days

The High Court as scheduled an appeal hearing on Thursday, 10:15am, for Supreme Court Chief Justice Abdulla Saeed's prison conviction over the obstruction of justice charge.

The Criminal Court sentenced Saeed to four months and 24 days after being found guilty of ordering employees at the Supreme Court to disable the Government E-Letter Management System (GEMS).

Saeed, along with Supreme Court Justice Ali Hameed, have also been sentenced to one year, seven months and six days in Prison for obstruction of the work of a public official for which. The sentence was later reduced by the High Court to one year, two months and 12 days.

Saeed and Hameed also face charges of terrorism and conspiring to overthrow the government for which the trials are proceeding.
