Local Government Authorty (LGA) has suspended Baa, Kamadhoo council's Vice President Ahmed Sajid, for a three-month period, with no pay.

According to a letter sent to him by LGA on Thursday, his suspension is due the failure to elect the council's president. It noted that a president was to be elected within 14 days after the position became vacant.

Furthermore, the authority said that it had informed Sajid 'twice' to elect a council president, but that he had failed to do so.

During the suspension, he will not be allowed to represent the council in any arena.

LGA further appointed council member Ahmed Samir as an acting-head, and assigned him to elect a president before 12pm on June 5.

Sajid also responded to LGA via a letter, accusing the council's director general and administrative staff of impeding on his work. He also included letters he had sent to the director general, expressing his various concerns.

Furthermore, Sajid expressed regret that he is not able to work without resolving the issues.
